Thoughts of Ukraine, a part of my heritage, have filled my heart and soul during this momentous and heartbreaking time in its history.
Each year in May, a rich and beautiful street festival of Ukrainian pride and culture takes place in New York’s East Village. Among the activities, dancers perform in traditional folk costumes. Here, in this photo taken in 1988, two young girls take a break between performances.
