There is a long tradition of photographing shop windows over the decades. Henri Cartier-Bresson, Vivian Maier, Saul Leiter and Eugene Atget come to mind. There are many more in the history of photography.

My latest cover image is an homage to this great tradition. Porto is full of beautifully designed store fronts that are souvenirs of bygone days. As a friend pointed out to me recently, my photograph of the Optica shop evokes the colors from the French film ”The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”.

So take time to explore with your camera. You might be surprised by what a shop window might reveal.
